Hey beautiful,
The holiday season is here, and while it brings all the cozy vibes, let’s be real—it can also be pretty overwhelming. Between booking flights, wrapping up the year at work, cramming for finals, or figuring out holiday plans, it’s no wonder we feel like we’re running on empty. But I’m here to remind you (and myself) that a calm, peaceful season is possible. It’s about making those little moments for ourselves, checking in, and breathing. 🌬️
This time of year, we need to be extra gentle with ourselves. Below are some of my go-to tips for managing holiday stress, so you can keep that glow and make the season feel full of love and laughter—and a lot less chaotic.
1. Prioritize Sleep—It’s Your Secret Weapon
The holiday hustle can easily throw our sleep out of whack—late nights, travel, and last-minute projects make it hard to keep a good sleep routine. But remember, sleep is the foundation for handling everything with grace. I always tell myself, “If I can only get one thing right, let it be my sleep.” Even a few extra hours can be life-changing. Try setting a gentle sleep routine where you wind down with a book or a calming tea (chamomile is my fave!) and let your body get that deep rest it needs. It’ll make all the difference!!! Try adding 30 minutes here, and an hour there, instead of trying to add 3 hours all at once, and I promise it will be much a more sustainable adjustment!
2. Nourish Your Body—Fuel, Don’t Deplete
Holiday meals and treats are amazing, but don’t forget to nourish yourself, too. When I’m feeling stressed, it’s tempting to grab quick snacks and skip meals, but a good, balanced diet is everything. Think fresh fruits, leafy greens, and whole grains that keep your energy steady. And hydration is key! If you’re traveling, pack snacks like nuts or protein bars to keep you from getting “hangry.” Let food be a form of self-care—it’s the fuel that’ll keep you glowing and grounded all season long. Let's be realistic—you might want to have dessert after a meal, and you absolutely should!!! Give yourself grace and enjoy the delicacies in life—in moderation!!
3. Move in a Way That Feels Good
When life gets busy, it’s easy to skip workouts. But trust me, just a few minutes of Pilates or a walk outside can work wonders for your stress levels. Movement doesn’t have to be a big thing; it can be as simple as stretching in the morning or doing a quick Pilates flow before bed. I love Pilates because it centers my mind and body, helping me feel strong and capable, even on the busiest days. And don’t forget, I’ve got a free 1-week Pilates plan that’s perfect if you’re looking for some gentle guidance (check it out!).✨
4. Get Outside—Sunshine & Fresh Air Are Healing
Whether it’s a brisk walk or just sitting in the sun with your coffee, fresh air is pure gold for stress relief. Nature has this incredible way of grounding us, reminding us that there’s so much beauty in the simple things. If you’re traveling, use it as an opportunity to explore new parks or go for a little wander. Being outside has helped me clear my mind countless times, especially when life feels heavy.
5. Remember to Breathe—Create Little Moments of Stillness
When things get crazy, I know it’s easy to hold our breath or feel like we’re just “getting through.” But a few deep breaths can shift everything. Set aside 5 minutes a day to breathe deeply, or try a little meditation before bed. It’s like pressing pause on all the noise, giving yourself permission to just be. I love to sit quietly, close my eyes, and place my hand on my heart, remembering that I can find calm no matter what’s going on around me. Repeat after me: "I can find calm no matter what’s going on around me." :)
6. Give Yourself Grace—You’re Doing Your Best
Holidays can come with a lot of pressure to make everything perfect. But remember, it’s not about doing it all; it’s about showing up as you are. If things don’t go as planned, or if you miss a few workouts, that’s okay. Release the pressure and let yourself enjoy each moment. You are enough just as you are, and sometimes, just doing your best is the most beautiful gift you can give yourself.
