Sweaty Studio
“Work With Your Body, Not Against It”
How Sweaty Studio Began…
In 2019, I started a health and wellness blog called "I'm Sweaty and I Know It." What initially started as a blog eventually transformed into the thriving online Pilates studio we are today.
In the summer of 2020, something totally transformational happened. I, Callie Jardine (the founder), started leading my friends through online Pilates workouts. The impact I could make in my friends' lives sparked the idea of taking these private sessions beyond my friend circle through popular platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
I began creating and posting free Pilates and Barre workout videos for ladies striving to achieve holistic health in a non-toxic way. My passion soon led me to obtain my certification as a Barre instructor at the young age of 19. I then focused on exploring various low-impact workout styles, such as Pilates.
Through my experience teaching Barre and exploring various low-impact workouts, I realized there was a significant gap in the fitness industry. As someone who had struggled with an eating disorder and body image issues for a significant part of my life, I came to a pivotal realization. The fitness world seemed to lack workouts that were not toxic, triggering, or solely focused on altering your physical appearance.
And thus, in January 2022, I brought my online Pilates studio, Sweaty Studio, into existence. Though initially, I hustled alone, occasionally hiring talented freelancers, my amazing boyfriend decided to bid farewell to Wall Street and jump in to lend a helping hand. Together, we've achieved some jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring things for Sweaty Studio.
Joined by experts, Sweaty Studio is committed to offering more than just workouts. We aim to empower individuals to embrace their bodies, nurture their minds, and cultivate a positive relationship with exercise and self-care.
Our classes are designed to prioritize overall well-being, combining elements of Pilates, Barre, and mindful movement, all blended together with uplifting encouragement. We believe that everyone deserves to feel strong, confident, and comfortable in their own skin and know that they are worthy of unconditional love.
Inspiration Behind Sweaty Studio…
As a competitive figure skater, I struggled with chronic tendinitis in my ankles and knees, preventing me from engaging in high-impact exercises recommended for off-ice training. At the age of 15, my mom enrolled me in a Barre class that combined elements of yoga, Pilates, and ballet. I instantly fell in love with this unique and gentle form of exercise. Until then, I had believed that achieving results meant enduring high-intensity workouts that I didn't enjoy for countless hours each day.
My first Barre workout, however, shattered that belief. I realized I could not hate myself into loving my body. I also discovered the incredible power of affirmations and their impact on transforming our internal state, manifesting external results such as increased confidence and improved mood when paired with exercise.
Even during high school, I still felt unhappy even when I saw outward physical changes as a result of my rigorous fitness routine. During this time, I decided to adopt a new mentality, treating myself with the kindness and support I would offer my best friends. I embraced positive self-talk, mindful eating, and a holistic lifestyle, mirroring how my closest friends encouraged and built me up.
My journey took an unexpected turn when I experienced hormone imbalances, resulting in a disrupted menstrual cycle. This prompted me to embark on a path of healing, exploring the concept of cycle syncing in my workouts and nutrition. This journey deepened my connection with my mind and body and made me feel stronger than ever. I gained an understanding of my body's unique rhythms, acknowledging that some weeks I have lower energy levels or different nutritional needs. This realization transformed my mindset leading me to embrace the Sweaty Studio motto of "work with your body, not against it"
And during my research, when I was planning to share my passion beyond my friend circle, the workout videos I encountered on YouTube were focused on changing my body rather than promoting overall well-being. I yearned for workouts that would make me feel great both inside and out, not just from a superficial standpoint. And that became my ultimate motivation to establish Sweaty Studio.
